Gareth “Bach” Holbach is a mercenary employed by Wu-Sai Multiplanetary, as an assassin to protect fighters that are competing in the Universal Tournament on behalf of the conglomerate. He was assigned to protect the fighter Gethanie Marcel, alongside two other mercenaries, Therese Brabazon and Alec Rosh, known as Sniper Two and Sniper Three respectively. Holbach took the name Sniper One for himself. Brabazon was killed in action by a fighter challenging Gethanie Marcel, who then fled the battle. In a second encounter with the same fighter, both Rosh and Marcel were killed by Holbach, who is now reported by Wu-Sai Multiplanetary as “AWOL and Rogue”. The unknown fighter was also confirmed killed by Rosh.
Holbach is cold, uncaring, spiteful and extremely skilled as a fighter and as an assassin. His heartless demeanour has led to a life of wandering, finding himself in employment with criminals, warlords and other like him. He wears Wu-Sai issued carbon nano-weave armour under a long Kevlar poncho sporting a digital camoflague. He is of middling build, incredibly fit, and is labelled in Wu-Sai’s records as having “Extreme Ki potential”.
Little is known about Holbach’s history, and life as a wandering gun-for-hire made it incredibly hard for people to track him. It is suspected he is wanted in well over 900 star systems.
Equipment
KoreTech Energy Propelled Heavy Rifle
Holbach uses a bespoke high-calibre anti-material rifle, produced by the arms manufacturer, KoreTech. The rifle works as a conventional firearm, chambered for 15mm cannon rounds. However, the rifle also features a system that allows slugs to be fired using the wielder’s own energy, plumbed in via a gauntlet worn on the wielders arm. The gauntlet sports an input port and an output port. The input pipe is directly connected to a chakra point on the triceps. The output pipe interfaces with the rifle, converting the user’s ki into a propellant. This allows for incredibly high speed projectile expulsion, and is often enough to completely terminate mid-ranked fighters. All of Holbach’s team used similar weapons.
KoreTech Carbon Nano-weave Armour
The flexible weave of KoreTech’s carbon nano-weave armour is more than strong enough to dispel kinetic energy up to 15,000 joules over 1 square inch. The armour takes the form of black carapace, and comes in a variety of sizes; Holbach wears the ‘intermediate’ armour.
Faceplate
Holbach wears a faceplate that allows sight in 4x magnification through the right eye, and full vision in UV and IR in the left. The faceplate covers the upper face, and is thick and curved.
